Free In-School Concerts

Our ensembles perform concerts and lecture-demonstrations in schools in our home area of New England. These programs introduce students to the art of performing chamber music. Many of these concerts have been part of the In Harmony With Education® Program, created in partnership with MENC: the National Association For Music Education and are sponsored by the Recording Musicians Performance Trust Fund (RMPTF). Much of this funding doesn't exist any more, so we are currently seeking new financial support for these programs. E-mail us to find out how you can help us continue these educational programs.

These performances occur as school assembly programs & add an enriching dimension to the students' educational experience. All performances are performed at no charge to the schools.

We're proud of our collaboration with the Easton Public Schools;

The BCO String Quartet has performed educational concerts at the Flagg Street School and Quinsigamond School in Worcester (2001), the Angelo School in Brockton, MA (2000), the Ben Franklin Classical Charter School in Franklin, and the Clara Macy School in Bellingham MA (2003) at the Pennichuck Jr. High School in Nashua, NH for 780 students and the River Valley Charter School in Newburyport, MA (2004).

Our educational programs have featured the musics of Haydn, Beethoven, Brahms, Dvorak, Gershwin and other composers. In 2004, our theme was showing how the composers' used thematic materials, typical of the music of their times and countries in the creation of the typical musical forms found in the pieces we perform. We therefore learn about the history and cultures of the composers, including our own.

We have also brought concerts to public libraries in Stoughton (violin & viola duos) and Braintree MA (2000). The Braintree program, Jazz Classics for String Quartet was a musical program of of the musics of Cole Porter, George Gershwin, George Shearing & Scott Joplin and was funded by RMPTF and the Thayer Public Library.
